Fond du Lac Festivals, Citizens First Credit Union, and K107.1/KFIZ teamed up in the spring of 2014 to recognize the non-profit groups that have given their support to the annual Walleye Weekend festival which is held at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac during the first weekend of June. The non-profits were to submit a story about how being a part of the annual event has benefited them in their respective missions. A committee was formed to select the entries of ten nominees that would vie for the grand prize of $1,000. Once the ten groups were selected, representatives from those non-profits then visited K107.1's Bart Winkler to produce segments that would be played on K107.1 and KFIZ leading up to Walleye Weekend. Using the original entry story as a basis, the interviewees would have a conversation with Bart which he would then edit down into a radio vignette two to four minutes in length. Using the original written stories and the newly produced audio segments, the committee declared the Fond du Lac Public Library to be the winner of the first annual Citizen First Grand Giveback contest.
